When the horse feels loved.

My story today is about two great horses that I had a chance to meet over the summer. Minny and her one year old son Micky. Minny herself is a very very young horse, just a little over 3 years old. They both are owned by a truly amazing people, Katie and John. It was obvious from the first site that they really love and care for their horses. You absolutely have no doubt in this when you meet with the horses up close. Both Minny and Micky are very calm, friendly and full of confidence in the unconditional love for them, like it is the way it should be. In fact, they are right! It is really how it should be. Just love by itself for a living being gives a lot… an effort to understand, patience and generosity, time and effort to be with the horse. I saw Minny for the first time standing calmly in a company of the three young girls who were chatting about how Minny became so beautiful, sweet and clever.

The life of this horse was much different before she came to Katie and John, full of mistreating, pain and disappointments. At just two years old, when Katie and John took her, Minny had sore joints, stomach ulcers and in foal. Now this cheerful filly is no longer lame and her son grows into a handsome stallion. Only ulcer requires regular attention to her diet and feeding. Well, there is no stress for Minny now. She lives in the comfortable stables with all day grazing, working at the farm on the fresh air and in the evening enjoys her fresh hay in her spacious stall. Surprisingly, Katie and John trained their horses to get vacuumed. They started slowly by introducing a turned off vacuum with it’s big black house and gradually increased their level of confidence with a sound and the process itself. As a result – Minny stands quietly with her eyes half closed and enjoys her vacuuming massage that gets all the head heir and dirt out. It also helps improve the blood circulation and muscle relaxation. Micky also enjoy this horse-spa treatment by standing calmly and stretching out during the whole procedure. What a great job and well done for all!
